Awww YEAH! At the top of Lafayette (1600m) in New Hampshire. Pemigewasset Wilderness is in the rear of the photo, including the Bond-Guyot-Twin ridge, then the Presidentials in the distant rear of the photos. I’m blocking Agiocochook – Mt. Washington. But that didn’t matter in this pic – I had just been hiking in sub-freezing temps for five hours after sleeping out, and I was roaring with joie de vivre!
Here I am with my hiking bud PZ, having a gorp break on the trail the day earlier.
And that’s Garfield 3 hours away…
From the summit later on…looking back at the Franconia Ridge – Liberty, Haystack (the two spikes), then Lincoln with snow and Lafayette the highest on the right edge of the photo. Owl’s Head is the lump on the left – just read it is a 4,000-footer, so I’ll have to get up there sometime (there’s about 48 of them in New Hampshire, climbing them all is a common “goal” for hikers).
It was freaking cold, but a good time. More great photos are here on facehook
